Who This Suits
A realistic path when 189 feels just out of reach
The 190 uses the exact same points test as subclass 189, but a state or territory’s nomination adds 5 points to your score — in exchange for a commitment to live and work in that state for a minimum of two years. If your independent score sits around 70–75 points before any nomination bonus, you’re generally competitive for many state programs. Each state and territory runs its own occupation list and criteria, so which state nominates you often depends as much on your specific occupation as your points score.

60–65 Points Before Bonus
A baseline score in this range, before the 5-point nomination bonus is added, is generally what states look for.
State-Specific Occupation List
Your occupation must appear on the nominating state’s own current list — these differ from state to state and from the MLTSSL used for 189.
Positive Skills Assessment
From the relevant authority for your occupation, same as subclass 189.
2-Year Settlement Commitment
A genuine commitment to live and work in the nominating state for at least two years — this is taken seriously by the state, not just a formality.
Competent English Minimum
The same baseline as 189, though stronger results improve which states are realistically open to you.
State Nomination Fee
A separate fee, roughly AUD $200–300 depending on the state, on top of the main visa application charge.
