3 years of post-qualification experience, specifically in an acute inpatient setting — outpatient or community experience alone no longer qualifies as of 2026.
Specialists & Consultants
Kuwait remains heavily dependent on expatriate specialists in emergency medicine, anaesthesiology, radiology, critical care, oncology and surgical subspecialties.
Allied Health Professionals
Physiotherapists, radiographers and medical laboratory technologists now need 4 years post-qualification experience, raised from 3 in the 2026 rule update.

Licensing Authority
Kuwait Ministry of Health (MOH), under a modernised unified legal framework adopted in 2025 covering licensing, renewal, transfers and practice regulations.
Requirements
- Qualification from an MOH-recognised institution (Kuwait maintains its own list)
- Profession-specific minimum experience — 3 years for nurses, 4 for allied health
- DataFlow Primary Source Verification
Recruitment & Licensing Process
- DataFlow verification and the Kuwait Prometric exam — generally considered more challenging than DHA/DOH exams
- From January 2026, specialists and consultants complete a structured oral interview with an MOH clinical panel (available via video)
- Secure sponsorship and employment offer for visa processing
